Wisconsin Public Service recognized as best in class for keeping the lights on

Green Bay — For the first time in company history, Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) is being recognized among the best in the United States for electric reliability. The company is a recipient of the prestigious ReliabilityOne™ Award for superior reliability performance for a midsize utility.

This award, based on performance in 2018, highlights the company's commitment and excellence in delivering outstanding electric service to approximately 446,000 customers across northeastern and north central Wisconsin.

WPS employees work hard every day to make sure customers have the energy they depend on. In recent years, WPS has focused on improving its energy infrastructure, most notably through its System Modernization and Reliability Project (SMRP), an innovative effort to upgrade and convert over 2,000 miles of electric lines, primarily in Wisconsin’s heavily forested, rural areas.

The ReliabilityOne™ Awards are presented annually to utilities that excel in delivering the most reliable electric service to their customers. All large and midsize utilities operating electric delivery networks in North America are eligible for consideration for the awards. Recipients are evaluated primarily through system reliability statistics that measure the frequency and duration of customer outages.
